Austin City Guide

Austin was SUCH a good time and definitely one of my favorite spots on our road trip. This is my last full city guide from the trip, but if you have any questions about the other cities we visited — Dallas, Albuquerque, Grand Canyon, Phoenix, please let me know!

Eat

Paco's Tacos // Our trip started in hunt of good breakfast tacos and Paco's Tacos really hit the spot (even though Bill got a plate not a taco). I got the FTB tacos (tempeh, avocado, onion, cilantro) and they were delicious!

Vegan Nom // This was AMAZING. Hands down some of the tastiest tacos I've ever had, plus they have a large lot with space for plenty of games while you wait to grab your food. Definitely make a visit to The Vegan Nom!

The Beer Plant // Another all-vegan spot that’s a must-try! I wish we had gone a little earlier because it was super dark inside, but we definitely enjoyed our visit to The Beer Plant — so tasty!

Jo's Coffee // A South Congress staple, you’ll definitely recognize the iconic ‘i love you so much’ wall (where my boyfriend and I inadvertently interrupted a proposal, long story!) on the side. Grab a turbo, Jo’s signature drink (I couldn’t try because it’s pre-mixed with milk, but my boyfriend loved it), and explore the rest of the street.

Shop

Take Heart // This is such a beautifully curated store of mindful treasures. Stop at Take Heart and pick up a postcard with a list of all the other women-owned small businesses in the area.

Olive // Another independent shop in East Austin, Olive is filled with beautiful (and a little pricey) women’s clothes that you’ll definitely want to shop.

Apt F // Beautiful apothecary products, fair trade home goods, original watercolor paintings, jewelry, and more fill Apt F.

Austin Motel Store // Absolutely LOVED the Austin Motel store. It has a collection of local Austin artists, local brews, books and more.

Favor the Kind // If you haven’t noticed a trend, Austin is full of perfectly curated stores with local goods (#KeepAustinWeird), and Favor the Kind is no exception!

Lady Bird Lake // Renamed Lady Bird Lake in 2007, you can do everything from hike, paddle board, kayak and canoe. Or if you’re not into outdoor activities, just take a walk!
